Special-purpose equipment
We design and manufacture custom equipment based on process data, drawings, and specifications. Geometry and material combinations are tailored to the specific operating conditions. Calculations, testing, and documentation are conducted in accordance with the agreed-upon standards.
Custom geometries are designed for specific operating conditions
We design and manufacture custom equipment according to your drawings and specifications. Unusual geometries and material combinations are evaluated for the intended pressure and temperature range. We define manufacturing tolerances, tests, and documentation on a project-by-project basis.
Special-purpose vessels up to 5 m in diameter and 150 t
For custom equipment, the geometry, material, and scope of testing are redefined for each order. We document material traceability and the agreed-upon tests throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Dimensions for custom equipment
Special-purpose vessels can be manufactured with diameters up to 5 m and in single-piece lengths up to 50 m. Individual weights of up to 150 metric tons and wall thicknesses of up to 100 mm are possible. Horizontal and vertical designs can be segmented for transport and assembly. We evaluate non-standard dimensions and special materials on a project-by-project basis.
Additional services for custom equipment
Heating and piping systems can be integrated into the design. We manufacture steel structures and internal components according to project-specific specifications. Coatings and clad versions are available for corrosive or special media. Insulation, as well as drying and preservation, are carried out as appropriate for the specific application.
In-house quality assurance (QA)
Our quality assurance team inspects production in-house. The specified testing procedures and 3D measurements are defined on a project-by-project basis. Our documentation team compiles material certificates, manufacturing records, and test results into comprehensive project documentation.
Calculations for complex load cases
We perform calculations according to AD 2000 and EN 13445 using Sant’Ambrogio NextGen 2025; ASME verifications are performed using Compress 2025. We conduct FEM and CFD analyses using ANSYS Mechanical and Fluent 2025 R1. Fatigue and flange verifications are supplemented according to the applicable load case. Design is performed in PTC Creo.
Materials for special operating conditions
Carbon steels: P265GH, P355GH, P355NH, P355NL1, 16Mo3, 13CrMo4-5, 10CrMo9-10, 15NiCuMoNb5-6-4, SA-516 Gr. 60/70, SA-350 LF2, and SA-387 Gr. 11.
Stainless steels: 1.4301, 1.4541, 1.4571, 1.4539, and the corresponding SA-240 grades.
Duplex steels: 1.4462 and SA-240 318LN. We evaluate heat-resistant, cold-tough, or clad materials based on the specific operating conditions.

Questions about custom equipment manufacturing
Here we answer technical questions regarding the development and manufacture of custom-designed special equipment.
What types of custom equipment does WOLF manufacture? + − The product range includes, for example, reactor vessels, evaporators, separators, and vacuum apparatus. Custom columns or apparatus with unusual geometries are also possible. We review the technical documentation to determine whether a design fits within our manufacturing capabilities.

Can WOLF integrate components provided by the customer or sourced externally? + − Yes. Components provided by the customer or procured by partners can be integrated into the equipment at the plant. We review interfaces, material requirements, and the necessary scope of documentation in advance. Responsibilities and inspections are clearly defined in the project.

What calculations and verifications does WOLF perform for custom equipment? + − The engineering office performs strength calculations in accordance with the agreed-upon set of standards. Depending on the load case, FEM or CFD calculations supplement the verification. Fatigue and flange connections are taken into account if they are relevant to the operating conditions. The required scope of verification is determined at the start of the project.

Does WOLF manufacture prototypes and small production runs? + − Yes. WOLF manufactures one-off parts and prototypes for process engineering applications. Small production runs are also possible if the design and testing concept allow for reproducible manufacturing. Changes made to the first component are documented and approved before further production begins.
