Combining high strength with sufficient toughness
In the heat treatment process, the material is first hardened and then tempered at a higher temperature. This results in a high-strength microstructure that retains the toughness required for the application. We determine the heat treatment cycle based on the material and the required property profile.
Heat treatment
Tempering is a special case of hardening and tempering: austenitizing, sufficiently rapid cooling, and subsequent tempering at higher temperatures. This produces a tough, high-strength tempered microstructure in martensitic steels.
